textures have been put on! Final renders!

The textures when on great, nothing wrong with them!

I have learnt so much from doing this project. Doing this has forced me to really try hard to learn maya and not just follow instructions. I understand how the engine works and how to mend certain things if they go wrong. I know how to model more complex objects by extruding. I also know what is good geometry and what makes bad geometry, and how to correct this.

I have made a huge leap in texturing too, i now actually understand how it all works. Before i was very upset i couldnt get my head around texturing because i didnt understand how the folding works. I couldnt understand how some of the cylindrical mapping could possible come from the object i have just modelled, they looked completely different. But i know now how to change that.

Lighting and rendering was really fun, i very much enjoy the outcome of this project. I learnt a lot about how to render and render settings by experimenting and playing about this different things, I found many useful things by accident. Im sure to show it off, and that for me is mission accomplished.

Textures.

I had alot of fun making these, I enjoyed trying to replicate how the objects look. The vase was the most difficult and i cant get the colour right. I always struggle with colour, im not quite sure.

The axe was pretty straight foreward, but im not really paying much attention to the metal part as i want the texture i apply the the actual geometry to be VERY shiny, so i can do some lighting effects off it.

The pendant texture was fun to do, i made it all myself and used various brushes to created the mottled effect the metal has. I used the UV map to determine where to darken the pattern to match the model.

I do like creating textures.

More modelling

Im modelling the pendant and having a lot of trouble with it. Im not sure if i am going about it the right way, as i have separated the thing into lots of sections. I also mirrored the geometry of the main section and the top merged lots of vertices into one, but i did not realise this untill it was too late and i couldnt go back and fix it.... so i had to reedo it.

The panals were mirrored too and something when very wrong, i had faces within faces and things all got a bit crazy. So i ree-did everything apart from the main body! I do like how it looks now though. my favorite part is the top, with the indented parts, i love how it turned out!

Did some UV mapping too, learnt how to relax and unfold uv maps too, which is amazing! It save me so much time and it actually makes sense to me.

Making textures now.

Modelling 1

Here are some print screens of my progress with the axe and the vase. I havent started the pendant yet as i'm still having trouble with the axe head. Thankfully I had some help to create the axe head, i learnt alot about extruding from various faces. and how to manipulate them.

The axe handle went very well, i stormed through that without any problems. Pretty straight forward yet dynamic shape. I really enjoyed it. I made it by using a cylinder with around 20 inter sectors.

The vase was very tricky apart from the main body itself. I had to get a little help to get the handles to fit onto the body itself, by using a curve and extruding along that.
The main body was made of a cylinder again and i used lots of edge loops to create the edges... very please with this.
